The Table of Programs shows degree programs and preliminary authority requests currently approved by the Coordinating Board by CIP (Classification of Instructional Program). Following Board action on July 30, 2009, the Table of Programs reflects authority at the baccalaureate and master's levels for engineering programs only and at the doctoral and special professional levels for all disciplines. It no longer reflects authority at the baccalaureate and master's levels in disciplines other than engineering.
Look up current Table of Programs for public universities and health-related institutions
All tables share these symbols (attached to a CIP code) and notes:
C - Any combinations of currently approved programs in your institution's program inventory.
J - Degree granting - in cooperation with another institution.
P - Preliminary authority only. No degree programs offered.
S - Supporting role only - in cooperation with another institution.
X - Degree programs offered.
+ - In most cases: acknowledges that the institution's governing board has recognized that some degree programs in this discipline category are appropriate for planning at the institutional level for some time in the future. This designation is not recognized by the Coordinating Board as being within the four year planning cycle of this Table of Programs. A program proposal submitted under this category will require a change in the Role and Scope prior to consideration of the proposal.
Note: Two and four digit CIP Codes in ALL CAPS indicates broad authority for all areas, except for CIP Codes 24, 30. CIP codes 24 and 30 may have any combination of currently approved programs in the institution's program inventory.
