Advisory Committees

The following advisory committees provide advice and guidance to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB):

ApplyTexas Advisory Committee

Pursuant to Texas Education Code, Section 51.762, the advisory committee provides advice and recommendations regarding the common admission applications and the Apply Texas System

Certification Advisory Council

Pursuant to Texas Education Code, Section 61.314, the advisory council advises the Board on standards and procedures to be used in carrying out the provisions of TEC, Chapter 61, Subchapter G, Regulation of Private Postsecondary Educational Institutions.

Community and Technical College Leadership Council

Pursuant to Texas Education Code, Section 61.062(e), the leadership council provides advice and counsel to the Board with respect to public junior colleges.

Family Practice Residency Program Advisory Committee

Pursuant to Texas Education Code, Section 61.505, the advisory committee provides advice and recommendations with respect to the Family Practice Residency Program.

Field of Study Advisory Committees

Pursuant to Texas Education Code, Section 61.823, advisory committees provide guidance in the development of field of study curricula for various academic programs. 

Financial Aid Advisory Committee**

Pursuant to Texas Education Code, Section 61.0776, the advisory committee provides advice and recommendations regarding the development, implementation, and evaluation of state financial aid programs for college students.

Formula Funding Advisory Committees

Pursuant to Texas Education Code, Sections 61.059(b-b-1), advisory committees provide advice and recommendations regarding a set of formulas that provide appropriate funding levels and financial incentives necessary to best achieve the goals of the state’s higher education plan.

Graduate Education Advisory Committee**

Advisory committee provides advice and recommendations on procedures, issues, and long-range planning regarding graduate education.

Learning Technology Advisory Committee**

Advisory committee provides advice and recommendations regarding the increasingly important role that learning technology plays in Texas higher education.

Lower-Division Academic Course Guide Manual Advisory Committee

Advisory committee provides advice and recommendations regarding additions, deletions, and modifications to the Academic Course Guide Manual.

Programs of Study Advisory Committees

Pursuant to House Bill 2628, 84th Texas Legislature, Program of Study Advisory Committees are created to develop disciplinary programs of study specific to identified career clusters. 

Undergraduate Education Advisory Committee**

Advisory committee provides advice and recommendations regarding undergraduate education.

 

**Texas Education Code Section 61.071, requires the THECB to appoint non-voting student representatives to select advisory committees. Information relating to the appointment of these non-voting student representatives can be found at Non-voting Student Representative on Select Advisory Committees.
