CAPPS Recruit System

Q1. Where do I find the current job vacancies at the THECB?
A1. Go to the CAPPS Recruit website to view posted job vacancies. Select Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board from the list of state agencies under Organization. Select “See all organizations” to locate the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. You can register to apply online through CAPPS Recruit.

Q2. Will I be required to register with the CAPPS Recruit system to apply for a THECB job vacancy?
A2. It is recommended to apply for job vacancies in CAPPS Recruit. Applications will be accepted through Work In Texas. However, if a position asks for supplemental questions, the applicant may be asked to register for CAPPS Recruit and to log in to answer the supplemental questions.

Q3. Where can I get help completing an application?
A3. THECB Human Resources Department, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., via email or phone at 512-427-6190.

Q4. How do I sign up to receive email notifications of future THECB job vacancies?
A4. You will need to register in CAPPS Recruit. Complete a profile and state application, and then go to Preferences and identify the job classifications and locations for which you wish to be notified. Additionally, go to Profile, My Account, and select Yes under Correspondence. Also, you may subscribe to e-UPDATES to automatically be notified via email when HR posts a new job vacancy. Go to the following section: Higher Education News and Notices - THECB Job Posting Information to subscribe.

Employment Information

Q1. Can I apply for THECB's job vacancies through Work In Texas?
A1. THECB will accept Work In Texas online applications. However, to determine qualifications, THECB job postings may require responses to supplemental questions. Work In Texas online applications do not include the required supplemental questions. Therefore, if you choose to apply through Work In Texas, you may be sent an email asking you to register and log in to CAPPS Recruit, and to complete the supplemental questions. If the questions are not completed, the application may be considered incomplete. CAPPS Recruit is the preferred online application method.

Q2. Can I use Work In Texas to be notified of future THECB job vacancies?
A2. All THECB job vacancies open to the public appear on Work In Texas. Your Work In Texas Job Search criteria and requirements determine whether you receive an email notification from Work In Texas about THECB's job postings.

Q3. What if I don’t have computer/internet access?
A3. There are computers available in the THECB Human Resources Department during regular business hours (Monday-Friday; 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). You may also use the public computers located at any public library, or you may use the resources available at any Texas Workforce Center. To find a Texas Workforce Center near you, call 1-800-832-2829.

Q4. I missed the deadline - can I still apply?
A4. As with any job vacancy, once a closing date has passed, no application will be accepted or considered. Please continue to visit our site and apply for new jobs as they become available.

Q5. Can I submit a resume?
A5. You may either attach or cut-and-paste a resume into your online application. Please note a resume will not be accepted in lieu of a State of Texas application.

Q6. Will I automatically be considered for other positions if I previously submitted an application?
A6. No. You must submit an application for each posted job vacancy you are interested in.

Q7. Do you accept employment applications for positions that are not open?
A7. No. We only accept employment applications for current posted job vacancies.

Q8. Can I apply for more than one job vacancy at a time?
A8. Yes. You can apply for multiple job vacancies at the THECB at the same time. You must apply for each job vacancy separately.

Q9. How often does the THECB recruit for a particular position?
A9. There is no set time frame. Recruitments are initiated depending on departmental needs.
