The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's annual research expenditures report summarizes data submitted to the Board as required by Section 61.0662 of the Texas Education Code, which states:
"Once a year, on dates prescribed by the board, each institution of higher education shall report to the board all research conducted at that institution during the last preceding year."
The Coordinating Board's summary report is based on expenditures rather than awards because expenditures more accurately reflect the level of current research activity.
Beginning with Fiscal Year 2010, research expenditures have been collected as a part of the Academic Sources and Uses Survey.
