Kickoff of the Mechanical Engineering Transfer Compact

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, with grant support from the Lumina Foundation for Education's Making Opportunity Affordable Initiative, is pleased to host a reception the evening of October 22 and a breakfast the morning of October 23 on the campus of The University of Texas at Arlington to "kickoff" the Mechanical Engineering Transfer Compact. Invited guests are members of the Mechanical Engineering Articulated Transfer Curriculum Committee and their campus leaders. The purpose of this voluntary agreement among the signatory institutions of higher education within the State of Texas is to foster enhanced transfer processes for students pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, and to increase the number and preparedness of students matriculating from a two-year mechanical engineering pre-engineering program at community colleges into a baccalaureate mechanical engineering program at four-year universities.

This reception will recognize the work of the Mechanical Engineering Articulated Transfer Curriculum Committee, the advisory committee that has developed the Mechanical Engineering Transfer Compact that may be voluntarily used by institutions of higher education.

This will be the official kickoff of the Mechanical Engineering Transfer Compact, with press coverage. The purpose of this voluntary agreement among the signatory Texas institutions of higher education is to foster enhanced transfer processes for students pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, and to increase the number and preparedness of students matriculating from a two-year mechanical engineering pre-engineering program at community colleges into a baccalaureate mechanical engineering program at four-year universities.
