10:00 a.m.    Welcoming Remarks             
                     Raymund A. Paredes, Ph.D., Commissioner of Higher Education, will provide vision 
                     for Texas higher education.
 

10:15 a.m.    60x30TX Overview; Questions and Answers
                     Rex Peebles, Ph.D., Assistant Commissioner for Academic Quality and Workforce, Texas
                     Higher Education Coordinating Board
,
will provide an overview of the new Texas
                     higher education strategic plan, 60x30TX, and address questions from workshop
                     participants.
 

10:45 a.m.    Panel Discussion
                   Nereida Cantu, Ph.D., Assistant Superintendent of Post-Secondary Education & Career
                     Readiness, Judson Independent School District; Steven Olswang, J.D., Ph.D., Interim
                     Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs, Texas A&M University-San Antonio; and
                     Chris Young, Director of Workforce Development, Texas Department of Transportation,
                     will
respond to the goals of the new higher education plan and discuss how
                     school/college/business/community collaboration and related efforts are critical for
                     achieving the goals of 60x30TX in the South Texas Higher Education Region.

 11:15 a.m.    Breakout Sessions: Concurrent Discussions on Goals One and Two
                     Workshop participants will discuss strategies to achieve the Educational Attainment
                     and Completion goals of 60x30TX.
            

12:30 p.m.    Lunch and Keynote Speaker 
                     Roberto Zárate, Trustee of the Alamo Colleges and Chair of the Association of
                     Community College Trustees Board of Directors, will speak about the educational needs
                     of the
South Texas Higher Education Region. 
  

  1:45 p.m.    Breakout Sessions: Concurrent Discussions on 60x30TX Goals Three and
                      Four
                    Workshop participants will discuss strategies to achieve the Marketable Skills and
                    Student Debt goals of 60x30TX.
   

  3:00 p.m.    Summary of Breakout Sessions
                     Workshop participants will identify key strategies and next steps for achieving the
                     goals of 60x30TX.
 

  3:30 p.m.    Adjournment
