Texas is profiting from a diverse, vibrant and growing economy. Steps should be taken quickly to ensure an educated population and workforce for the future of Texas. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) is encouraging and fostering the development of regional P-16 Councils to serve as the change agents that can create a college-going culture and well-educated communities in Texas. By initiating a statewide summit, we believe the Councils will become more efficient and effective in helping to close the gaps in educational attainment.
