Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Identification of the Exposome in Fatty Liver Disease in Mexican American Families Using Genetic Correction

Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: U.S. Department of Health & Human Services

Program Title: N/A
CFDA Linked: Minority Health and Health Disparities Research

This project is aimed at identifying elements of the exposome that are relevant for fatty liver disease in an important health disparity population living in South Texas. Fatty liver disease will be quantified by MRI-based measures of liver fat and fibrosis. The exposome will be quantified by multiple high-dimensional omic technologies. The application uses a very novel genetic epidemiological approach that controls for genetics in order to enhance the underlying environmental signals.
