The goal of the STEPS Pre-K Project is to investigate the efficacy of the Bienestar Coordinate School Health Program in reducing obesity prevalence in preschools serving predominantly Hispanic children. The objective is to test if implementation of the BCSHP leads to better outcomes of obesity and obesity-related health behaviors amount Hispanic preschool children using a cluster randomized trial design. Preschools will be randomized into intervention and control groups and follow children and their families in these schools over a 2-year period to determine if the BCSHP had a significant effect in decreasing childhood obesity.
