Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Mixing in the Texas Coastal Zone through Coordinated Simulations and Field Measurements: The Role of Langmuir Cells in Sediment Suspension and Oil-mineral Aggregation

Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: TX Gen Land Office

Program Title: N/A

The investigators will integrate knowledge gained during TGLO Contact # 16-019-0009283, to assess how coastal Langmuir turbulence can enhance OMA formation. The research effort will be composed of scientific computing and a novel field campaign. Simulations will involve assessments of bed stress loading under the action of coastal Langmuir cells, to quantify bottom bed erosion, suspension of sediments, and transport via the upwelling-downwelling motions associated with Langmuir cells. Continuation of previously approved Project 27951 FY16
