1.1.1: The purpose of this research project is to conduct a quantitative investigation of the machining of high explosives. This includes evaluating the influence of machining parameters on cutter forces and temperature during machining operations with PBX 9501 and PBX 9502. Based on literature reviews, experimental investigations and analysis, an overall predictive model will be developed.
