Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Ensemble Subsetting within Optimized Ensembles to Improve Probabilistic Prediction of Severe Convection

Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: United States Department of Commerce

Program Title: N/A
CFDA Linked: Applied Meteorological Research

1.1.1: The purpose of this project is to expand on and improve the TTU ensemble system through satellite data assimilation, physics variability and adaptive observation to add value to operational probabilistic forecast guidance at the National Weather Service, and to provide the basis for development of the most effective ensemble sensitivity-based tools. This will be done through a robust evaluation of the sensitivity-based subsetting method for convective events and their individual hazards across multiple time scales.
