Centro De Investigacion Cientifica Y De Educacion Superior De Ensendada (CICESE)
Program Title: N/A
Note:
1.11 - This project seeks to develop a better understanding of the role of physical processes in organisms and the carbon cycle in the Gulf of Mexico. For this work, the trace distribution of hydrocarbons are analyzed using gliders equipped with specific fluorescence sensors. We are also investigating the inprint of hydrocarbons from seeps and oils spills in the region on the carbon cycle of the Gulf of Mexico through the analysis of elemental, isotopic and functional groups, as well as molecular level analyses. Budget categories include salaries and fringe (PI, Co-PI, research technician, graduate student and student) travel, materials & supplies, other costs and tuition.
