A powerful evaluation design will study academic as well as non-cognitive factors that contribute to retention and degree completion. The project advances the knowledge needed to recruit, retain and graduate students majoring in physics both financially through offering substantial scholarships, engagement in research projects early in their college careers, and through provisions of support services such as a Peer Living and Learning environment. Evaluation activities will contribute to current knowledge of the impact of provision of these services on retention and degree completion in physics and astronomy and be reported through publications and professional meetings.
