Note:

We propose to create a learning community-based revision the freshman and sophomore level Environmental Science curriculum at The University of Texas at El Paso to improve recruitment and retention. The potential of the program is far greater with approximately 200 students enrolling in the Introduction to Environmental Science course each semester. These initiatives will serve to not only improve retention of freshmen and sophomore environmental Science majors and overall graduation rates but also strengthen the scientific concepts, skills for critical thinking, and analytical tools in our current program and will prepare our students as highly trained professionals to work in academic, management, consulting and industrial positions within Environmental Sciences
