San Antonio has worked hard to become “EV ready” through the installation of a significant public charging network. What is the future of electric vehicles and other alternative transportation options for the community? How will EVs impact the local economy, utility operations and revenues in the coming decade? What lessons can be learned from real world usage of EVs in the San Antonio area by innovators and early adopters? The team of researchers will examine the local implications of EVs from a variety of perspectives, including identifying the “tipping point” at which EV adoption will begin to make a material impact on utility operations and revenue, modeling the economic impact of EV adoption, studying actual usage of EVs in the region, and looking at best practices and solutions to address challenges posed by increasing levels of EVs in the market.
