582-10-90494-19 - Work Plan associated with previously approved award – ‘Total Maximum Daily Loads for…’. This Work Plan describes a portion of a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) research support project to be undertaken by the University of Houston (UH) as part of the referenced contract between the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and UH. This Work Plan specifically addresses support for the Survey of PCBs and PCDDs/PCDFs in the Galveston Bay System (GBS)… PCBs and PCDDs/PCDFs, or dioxin, are extremely persistent in the environment, and can affect human health at low concentrations. As a result of PCBs and dioxin found in seafood organism tissue, seafood consumption advisories have been issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services… This advisory included spotted sea trout and all species of catfish. All parts of those segments that are covered by consumption advisory No. ADV-35 will comprise the project area. Within the context of this project, GBS will refer to the project area defined by those partial or entire segments.
