NNJ13ZA04P - The incumbent serves as the Manager of the Human Research Program (HRP) and is responsible for the leadership, management and implementation of all program activities. The HRP is an international, multi-center program in the Space Life and Physical Sciences Research and Applications (SLPSRA) Division of the Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate (HEOMD) at NASA Headquarters. The HRP Manager is instrumental in carrying out mission objectives of HEOMD by performing research to develop capabilities to eliminate or mitigate human health and performance risks associated with space flight. Specific research efforts include 1) understanding, documenting and disseminating data on the effects of space flight on humans; 2) mitigating the risks of space flight by developing validated countermeasures; 3) providing input for the development of human health and performance standards for space flight; and 4) developing technologies to better understand and mitigate the human system response to space flight.
