Note:

In partnership with the Colleges of Education and Science, the College of Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso will design and develop the infrastructure for building capacity for successful implementation of an undergraduate program in engineering to produce effective and knowledgeable teacher-engineers. The following objectives will achieve this overarching goal: Objective I. Develop an undergraduate engineering education program of study that includes relevant education courses and several engineering courses that will be redesigned as inquiry-based learning courses. Objective 2: Implement a faculty professional development program to support engineering faculty re-designing courses as inquiry-based. Objective 3. Develop a management plan for engineering majors preparing to become teachers that will ensure their active participation in programmatic activities, which build on the existing UTEP Noyce Scholars program: Robert Noyce Scholarships for Teaching Miners. Objective 4. Establish an agreement with regional K-12 independent school districts to enable the integration of K-12 classroom field experiences for engineering Noyce Scholars, beginning early in the undergraduate program and continuing to graduation.
