Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: LOCKHEED MARTIN

Program Title: none

Note:

Task I: The University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) will develop aluminum build themes for the Arcam A2 machine. UTEP will perform machine preconditioning, material analyses, and fine tuning of the final build parameters. Material characterization of the powder and fabricated parts will include optical, SEM, TEM, and XRD analyses. Task 2: Working with the GE Global Research Center (GRC), UTEP will establish first generation powder-bed process models leveraging the results of Task I of this program. These models would use the nominally desired metal geometric model, automatically compensate for local distortion such as shrinkage, and generate a DDM part model. The DDM part model would subsequently be fabricated and inspected to validate the models.
