Note:

We propose a collaborative effort that will make significant inroads toward increasing taxonomic and phylogenetic resolution within phylum Rotifera by investigating the molecular phylogenetics of superorder Gnesiotrocha at broad and fine scales. By developing a robust phylogeny, we will investigate how major life history strategies (e.g., solitary v. coloniality, planktonic v. sedentary lifestyles), and morphological features (e.g., spines, gelatinous secretions) have evolved within the Gnesiotrocha.
