Intellectual Merit: The goal of this project is to shed new light on the most poorly known animal groups (amphibians, reptiles and their endoparasites) in one of the most poorly known regions in the world (lowland forests of Central Africa). We (Pis Greenbaum and Jackson) are especially well-placed to carry out this project, as we have both been carrying out herpetological surveys in Central Africa (Jackson in People's Republic of Congo [PRC], Greenbaum in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo [DRC]) in recent years, and Greenbaum has molecular lab facilities to facilitate genetic comparisons of specimens collected at our field sites and elsewhere in Africa.
