Note:

The Department of Education provides fellowship for doctoral candidates. The goal of this program is to ensure the diversity of US Energy Engineering R&D Workforce for the 21st Century. The proposed Low Carbon Energy Engineering Doctoral Fellowship program within the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at the University of Texas at EI Paso (UTEP) will increase the number of Hispanic doctoral graduates trained for energy education and research careers. Consequently, it will increase the number of Hispanic doctoral graduates trained in transformational technologies for affordable, abundant, and low carbon energy for the 21 st Century. None of the costs are subject to F&A (Participant support); F&A not allowable; Institutional Payment (grant funds) and Institutional Allowance (cost share) have to be the same, which is $13,975 and includes: Tuition, Fees, and other cost of education including: travel, insurance (student must pay alternate coverage out of pocket and can get reimbursed), and other project related research costs. Most common approach by successful proposers is 4 federal fellows and 1 matched fellow.
