Note:

Social vigilance is one candidate behavior potentially linking a broad array of individual, social, and contextual factors to cardiovascular disease. Our goal is to examine social vigilance as moderator of atherosclerotic risk in a representative community sample as well as test hypotheses regarding acute physiological reactions to vigilance in daily life as a mediator of the stress-related change in atherosclerosis. Our approach involves a 2-day EMA/ambulatory protocol paired with carotid ultrasound scans of a community sample at baseline and a 2-year follow-up.
