This project will provide talented undergraduate students with genuine research experiences and place them into the pipeline from college to graduate school and research-based careers. Ten students will work closely with research mentors to investigate problems related to algorithm design and analysis using advanced computation platforms and environments. The students will receive ten-week intensive training in specific research fields as well as basic research skills including literature review, algorithm design and implementation, experiment setup, data analysis, technical writing and presentation. Over the life of the project, thrity student will directly engage in research activities and more students will benefit from the course modules and class projects spawned from the REU projects.
