Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Role of White Matter Integrity in Age-Related Functional Reorganization - R00 phase

Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: NATL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH

Program Title: none
CFDA Linked: Aging Research

The goal of the proposed research is to investigatge the influence of white matter connectivity in the brain on functional neruoimaging patterns seen in older adults by measuring age-related differences in white matter integrity (e.g., fractional anisotropy) in major connective tracts in the brain (e.g., corpus callosum, superior longitudinal fasciculus), age-related differences in neural activation to difficulty on cognitively challenging fMRI tasks, and age-related differences in cognitive ability in healthy young, middle-aged and older adults across a three year period to asess the moderating effects among these variables.
