Engineering Recruitment Program

The Engineering Recruitment Program (ERP) was created in 2007 by the 80th Texas Legislature. Between 2008 and 2011, the program provided funds for:

the Merit Scholarships Program (MSP) to Texas engineering students, and

the Engineering Summer Program (ESP) for middle and high school students on the campuses of Texas public and independent higher education institutions that offer degree programs in engineering.

**Funding for the program was not appropriated for Fiscal Years 2012 and 2013.**

ERP Merit Scholarships Program

Scholarship funds were awarded at the beginning of the fall semester. Awards were merit based.

ERP Engineering Summer Program

Middle and/or high school students were eligible to participate in a week long Engineering Summer Program(ESP). Application requirements were set by the participating institution. Admission to the ESP was selective. Participating students receive instruction in math, science, and engineering concepts. The goal of the program was to provide students with an early opportunity to explore engineering as a potential career and to help prepare students for the academic rigors of engineering coursework.
