Texas Skill Standards
(updated April 2005)
The Texas Skill Standards Board (TSSB), an advisory body to the Governor and Legislature, is charged with the development of a statewide system of skill standards for sub-baccalaureate occupations with strong employment and earnings opportunities.
The TSSB has recognized industry-defined and industry-endorsed skill standards in a variety of occupational areas. These skill standards may be integrated into community and technical college (CTC) curriculum to meet the workforce needs of business and industry.
To view or download all TSSB-recognized skill standards, visit the Texas Skill Standards Repository on the TSSB web site at www.tssb.org.
The TSSB will recognize CTC programs integrated with TSSB-recognized skill standards, and promote these programs on the TSSB web site and in outreach activities to employers and industry groups. View current TSSB-Recognized Programs.
Follow the steps to apply for TSSB Program Recognition and download interactive application forms.
The TSSB has resources to help you integrate skill standards into your curriculum. View or download A User's Guide: Incorporating Skill Standards into Community and Technical College Curriculum. Contact TSSB staff to schedule a Skill Standards Usage Workshop at your college that walks you through a step-by-step process to integrate skill standards into your curriculum.
Other related skill standards information for community and technical colleges is available on the Community and Technical Colleges section of the TSSB web site.
