Texas Skill Standards

The Texas Workforce Investment Council (Council), composed of 19 members representing business, labor, education, community-based organizations, and five state agency partners, has strategic planning and evaluation oversight of the Texas workforce development system. As of September 2015, with the abolishment of the Texas Skill Standards Board, the Council is also charged with the administration of a statewide system of skill standards for sub-baccalaureate occupations with strong employment and earnings opportunities.
The Council has recognized industry-defined and industry-endorsed skill standards in a variety of occupational areas. These skill standards may be integrated into community and technical college (CTC) curriculum to meet the workforce needs of business and industry.

The Council will recognize CTC programs integrated with recognized skill standards, and promote these programs on the Texas skill standards website and when conducting outreach activities to employers and industry groups. View current recognized programs.
